Light, Visit Me 2010: On fall equinox, the midpoint between summer solstice and winter solstice, the shadow is in the middle of the sculpture exactly on the noon mark.
Come Light, Visit Me 2010
Come Light, Visit Me 2010, corten steel, 4 feet x 5.5 feet x 6.5 feet, sundial. The shadow is marking10 AM, August 13 on dedication day at Champlain College, Burlington VT.
Unlike most sundials this one has two gnomons; the shadow cast by the top gnomon tells Daylight Savings Time and the shadow cast by the bottom gnomon tells Standard Time.
Come Light, Visit Me
Sundial sculpture, COME LIGHT, VISIT ME, was dedicated at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont on August 13, 2010.
Members of the North American Sundial Society, officials from Champlain College and many friends and passers-by watched as the sun shown clearly and the shadow moved across the dial telling time.
The sundial is in a full expanse of lawn behind the Perry Hall Welcome and Admission Center of Champlain College.
